HUNTING FAQ's

In anticipation of your upcoming Montana Big Game Hunting adventure at the Diamond R Guest Ranch we’re offering you this information which answers some of the most commonly asked questions.

WEATHER:
You should anticipate daytime temps between 70-85 degrees dropping to 55-65 at night. While summer weather is typically dry and mild you should always be prepared for the cooler of these temperatures with rain possible at any time.

ALL GUESTS SHOULD

-be prepared for precipitation and significant changes in temperature.
-bring clothes that can be layered for comfort with the outer layers being waterproof.
-put sensitive items (cameras) in waterproof containers.

MEALS
All meals are served in the dining room of our main lodge with the exception of the sack lunch to enjoy during your day on the river. Our hearty, home-style meals are designed to offer a selection of local and traditional favorites that are sure to please. Let us know of any dietary restrictions at least 2 weeks prior to your stay.

Breakfast...8:00 a.m., Sack lunch , Refreshments...6:30 to 7:00 p.m., Dinner…7:00 p.m.

ELECTRICITY & TELEPHONES
Our location on the edge of the wilderness means that we are blessed with an absence of phone and electric lines. Don’t fret, you’ll never miss them.

Electric is supplied by our generator which runs from about 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily. When light is required at other times we use propane lights or supply battery powered lanterns.

Phone calls can be tricky. Cell phones generally don’t work here but there is a public phone at the Ranger Station just across the river. You will need a calling card to make any calls that are not local.

GRATUITIES
Guest often ask for guidance with tipping. Gratuities are a way for you to reward staff members for their efforts in making your trip exceptional and memorable. Below is a general scale to assist you.

Food service $10.00, Housekeeping $5.00 and Guides $35 to $55 per guest, per day

Use your discretion and adjust your tips to reflect your satisfaction with the level of service provided. Tips are offered at the end of your visit and given directly to the intended recipient. Envelopes are available.

UNWINDING
When you’ve finished your day’s activities come to the lodge to relax and indulge in refreshments which include a tempting snack and a limited selection of beer, wine and soda. If you’d prefer, you’re welcome to bring your favorite beverages. While awaiting dinner you can play a game of pool or better still, catch the best show in town—enjoy the resident hummingbirds on the deck while watching the sunset color the Spotted Bear River below.
